Grimsby Golf Club win in Cardiff
The Vale Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort played host to the Grand Final of the NSPCC Ladies’ Golf Classic on 27th and 28th September.
Players came from across the UK and Northern Ireland to compete in the betterball competition on the Wales National Course.
It was a very tight final with two pairs ending up on 37 points. The winners were decided by a count back and it was two cousins from Grimsby Golf Club, Jayne and Jemma Coutts, who were crowned the 2008 winners.
Just missing out in second place were the Gill Smith and Ann Martin from the Royal Automobile Club and in third place were Karen Langford and Rachel Phillips from Tehidy Park.
All clubs taking part in this year’s competition held a qualifying round at their home clubs, with the winning pair from each guaranteed a place in the Regional Finals, where all ladies enjoyed 18 holes of golf followed by a lunch. From there, the winning pair qualified for the two day Grand Final, which was sponsored by the Vale and included two nights luxury accommodation, two rounds of golf, welcome dinner and gala dinner.
