Morpeth win on back nine countback
With another Regional Final threatened by the great British Summer, it was a relief to all when the course was open in the morning, despite the cloudy skies above. The rain stayed off and the ladies all enjoyed the wonderful Pleasington Golf Course.
Jill Leonard and Barbara Low from Morpeth Golf Club were the early clubhouse leaders with 39 points, a fantastic score considering the conditions. It looked as though it was going to be too good for the rest of the field until Viv Hutchinson and June Stobo from Matfen Hall came in with 39 points as well. The winners were decided by countback with the Morpeth ladies just topped the leaderboard with 20 on the back nine.
Third places Jackie Smart and Susan Taylor from Pannal Golf Club were just two points behind with 37 points.
