Mother and daughter win Grand Final

Ashburnham Ladies with Janet BroadmoreMother and daugther combination of Iolan and Nia Greville were crowned NSPCC Ladies' Golf Classic 2008 champions scoring a fabulous 42 points in the Grand Final, held at and sponsored by the Vale Hotel, Golf and Spa Resort in Cardiff.

It was a great result for the Welsh pair from Ashburnham Golf Club, Llanelli, who beat the rest of the field by 4 points.  In second place was Nikki Hodge and Amanda East from Tehidy Park, Cornwall and the third placed pair were Jill Leonard and Barbara Low from Morpeth, Northumberland.  For a full list of competitors and results, click here.

The eight pairs, who had all qualified from Regional Finals across the UK and Northern Ireland, were welcomed to the Vale on Thursday lunchtime, in time for a practice round in the afternoon. 

During the practice round, a nearest pin and longest drive competition was held.  Winning the nearest pin was Sue Proctor from Rochford Hundred and Jill Leonard from Morpeth won the longest drive.  Both players won beautiful pens sponsored by Champneys.
